An urban apartment
After an extended period of living in the US, our clients returned to Auckland with a love of West Coast architecture, chic apartment-style living, and concrete. We thoroughly enjoyed working with our clients to design a new home, a retreat that matched their aesthetic with their lives.
The couple needed a multi-functional new home that was private and comfortable for a couple yet also provided a guest wing that could be opened up for family visits and then closed again when they left. The new home also needed to harbour an ample entertainment area and an efficient office space.
The cantilevered concrete canopy over the entrance and fully glazed stairwell contrast with the bunker-like windows of the street facing private spaces, while the variation in concrete finishes differentiates the couple's home from the guest wing.
